Using our #ML and #CFD simulations technology, we will accelerate testing industrial coating scenarios through simulations by more than 1000%.
We are glad to be part of #Mind4Machines and the innovative project #coatML. The aim of #coatML is to raise the efficiency and competitiveness of the manufacturing industry. About the project:

  • Using coatML end-users will save time, HPC resources and researchers’ expertise lowering the costs of industrial coating-measurement-integration projects.
  • Thickness is one of the key features of any coating. Accurate thickness measurement results in consistent coating and ensures that each surface has the best possible coating thickness, reducing coating material consumption by up to 30%. Some of the target applications include: Industrial coatings, Lubricant coatings, thermal sprays and adhesives.
  • Understanding coating physics is critical to the optimisation of any coating process and thickness measurement in terms of efficiency and quality. This is done using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations which act as a predictive tool that can analyse different industrial coating-line scenarios. Although CFD simulations involved require fine computational mesh resolution, various submodels and considerable computation power, the integration of Machine Learning (ML) and numerical simulation will reduce required computing time by at least 1000% avoiding traditional bottlenecks in CFD simulations.

Using coatML end-users will save time, HPC resources and researchers’ expertise lowering the costs of industrial coating-measurement-integration projects.

Ultimately, this project will increase the digitalisation level of the entire coating sector and guarantee massive material savings providing impetus to tomorrow’s decarbonised systems.
