MultiFluidX is pleased to announce the successful completion of NEDON (Numerical simulations for complEx fluiD flOw systems desigN).
Within the NEDON project, MultiFluidX deployed its in-house ML-CFD software, MPflow, to support the design and analysis of smart and sustainable urban systems. The project focused on accelerating high-fidelity Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations for complex flow phenomena relevant to city-scale planning and infrastructure design.
By combining multiphase CFD modeling with machine-learning-driven Model-Based Design, MPflow enabled significantly faster simulation workflows while preserving physical accuracy. This capability is essential in urban and environmental applications, where transient and multiphase flows often drive performance, safety, and sustainability outcomes.
NEDON demonstrated how physics-aware ML-CFD can be integrated directly into practical design and decision-making processes, reducing computational cost and enabling more timely engineering insights for real-world urban environments.
A white paper presenting the methodology, results, and key insights from a pilot case study in Southern Europe is currently in preparation and will be released soon.
MultiFluidX would like to thank all partners and collaborators involved in NEDON and looks forward to building on the project’s outcomes in future smart city, energy, and sustainability initiatives.
